25-hour Class 3 licence preparation

Build your Class 3 skills and prepare for your air brake endorsement through practical, one-on-one training.

15-hour Class 3 upgrade

Designed for students who already hold an air brake endorsement, or have significant mechanical or heavy-equipment driving experience.

  • 15 hours of one-on-one practical training

  • Usually 1–3 weeks of part-time study

Road-test arrangements: please confirm with the office whether the test is included or charged separately for the 15-hour upgrade.

The 15-hour upgrade and hourly training are listed as not eligible for a tax receipt.

Before you begin

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold a full Class 5 licence.
  • Have Class 3 authorized training on your licence.
  • Have Air Brake authorized training or a full air brake endorsement.
  • Complete your MPI medical requirements.

You must pass the relevant Class 3 and Air Brake knowledge tests before practical training. See the full entrance requirements.

Registration & scheduling

There are no fixed start dates. Training usually begins 1–4 weeks after registration, depending on availability. Registration requires all entrance requirements to be met and a $400 non-refundable registration fee. Applying online does not take a payment or confirm a place.

Corporate rates are available. For focused practice, hourly training is $110 per hour outside a program, or $84 per hour for refresher training after completing a program. Both require a minimum two-hour session and include taxes.
